Hasła do banków, dane logowania do portali społecznościowych oraz platform zakupowych są głównymi celami. Wśród spyware wyróżnia się keyloggery czyli programy które zapisują sekwencje klawiszy oraz nagrywarki, które nasłuchują użytkownika przez mikrofon i kamerę.
  • Ransomware – to programy szyfrujące dane na dysku, a następnie żądające wpłacenia pieniędzy na podane konto bankowe w zamian za odblokowanie plików. Przelanie pieniędzy nie gwarantuje odblokowania danych, dlatego warto tworzyć kopie zapasowe najważniejszych plików. Pobieranie tego typu programów następuje najczęściej z załącznikami maila wysłanego zazwyczaj na adres firmowy.
  • Adware – oprogramowanie które wyświetla reklamy. Jego głównym zadaniem jest utrudnianie życia użytkownikowi poprzez wyświetlanie wyskakujących okien oraz spowolnienie pracy komputera. Dodatkowo oprogramowanie to zbiera dane użytkowników, które później wykorzystywane mogą być w różnych celach.
  • Rootkity – są to programy, które pozwalają hakerom przejąć kontrolę nad komputerem, dając osobie zewnętrznej uprawnienia administratora bez naszej wiedzy. Często są elementem mieszanki złośliwego oprogramowania.

Objawy zarażenia programami typu malware to:

  • Wyskakujące okna po włączeniu komputera lub programu.
  • Blokowanie stron przez przeglądarkę internetową
  • Otwieranie niechcianych kart w przeglądarce
  • Pojawienie się dodatkowych narzędzi na pasku przeglądarki
  • Zmiana strony domowej przeglądarki
  • Pojawienie się nieznanego oprogramowania na pasku Windows
  • Wolniejsza praca komputera
